Recipe for the Fantastic Garlic Mashed Potatoes I Just Made
Ingredients
6-8 medium sized red potatoes (skin stays on)
6-8 cloves garlic
4 tbsp. butter
⅓ cup of milk (I used skim and tastes just fine)
pepper, salt, and oregano to taste
Directions
Wash the potatoes, but don't peel them. Cut them into cubes if you want - I cook them long enough that they just fall apart. Put them into a stock pot, and cover with cold water.
Next, take the garlic and chop each piece roughly into halves or thirds, and throw these into the pot with the potatoes.
Turn the heat to high. When the water comes to a boil, drop the heat to medium to medium-high. After about 20-25 minutes, check if the potatoes with a knife. If they slide right off, they're done.
Strain the potatoes and garlic, and put them back in the pot with your butter, salt, pepper, oregano, and milk. (I like lots of black pepper.) Either with a masher or a fork, loosely mash the potatoes. Voilà! AWESOME MASHED POTATOES.
